“…We feel so blessed that Peter went to Higford school…”

“My son Peter Dhonau on his very last school day at Higford. Peter was their very first pupil! The amazing staff have made him into the wonderful young man he is today! Peter sat through the whole school celebration. Not too long back, he could only be brought in for a very few moments. You can see how happy he is. His dad, Mike and I feel so blessed that Peter went to Higford school. Both the school and the care home staff have gone over and above what we’d ever expected of them. Luckily for Peter, he is off to Options Malvern View (much nearer to home) so staff can work together to make the transition – which will be stressful – as pain free as possible! A big thank you to everyone at Higford – we will miss you all when he moves at the end of summer!”

Mary appeared on BBC1’s ‘The One Show’ to talk about the difficulties of putting her Autistic son Peter in to care initially.  View the video here >>

“I knew that this was where I wanted my son to go…”

“As soon as I walked in and talked to the staff, I knew that this was where I wanted my son to go. Whoever designed the service had got inside the mind of an autistic child – built-in beds, windows with blinds inside, wonderful multi-sensory experiences, and most importantly, huge grounds with lots of trees.”

“…good quality of life…”

“My son Jack has severe autism with challenging behaviour.  Options Higford is the only place that has been able to give him a good quality of life and, at the same time, value and celebrate his achievements.”

“…moved on leaps and bounds.”

“I think Options Higford has proved wonderful for GE and all staff need to be congratulated for all they have done – he has moved on leaps and bounds.”
