Donna Gilbert – Service Manager
I have worked for Options Autism since January 2020. Before I came here my background was primarily in elderly and dementia care in the community. I have worked in the care and nursing industry for over 15 years as well as in community services with local authorities and for the NHS. Looking for a change, I came to Options West Sussex and have never looked back. Working with adults who have learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs has been extremely rewarding. I manage a team of 30 plus support and care staff as well as providing support to the individuals in our care. I have completed my Level 5 Leadership and Management diploma in Health and Social care this year and have completed many other training and development programmes over the years, including Risk Assessment and train the trainer qualification. My passion is supporting individuals to remain as independent as possible in their own homes and through passion and determination, we at Options West Sussex strive to do the best we can for the individuals we support and their families.
Helen Kincaid – Deputy Service Manager
I first started in the care sector when my youngest daughter was born, by becoming a childminder, then when she started nursery I looked at where else I could use my skills. I found a job at a local residential care home and from here I was able to observe and see what a fantastic job support workers do. This inspired me to apply for my first opportunity. I then found myself in my first role of Senior Support Worker in 2005 and really enjoying working with adults with learning disabilities, autism and behaviours that challenge.
From this role I decided that my primary interests were with autism and found a Senior role with Autism Sussex, where I spent a year in residential before moving to their day services. Here I spent 8 years working alongside lovely people and gaining very valuable experience, including working very closely with the Manager of the service – who mentored me and gave me the chance to learn more about the management side of the service. This gave me valuable skills ready to take on my role as Deputy Service Manager at Options Autism, a position I have been doing now for three and a half years with great pride.
Sally Cox – Administrator
I started my professional life as a Teacher of English and spent a while in Brazil teaching English in a school. I returned to Bognor Regis and worked in a local language school for 10 years. When the school closed I joined an agency looking for work and in October 2007 I was taken on by the manager of Supported Living as a temporary part time Administrator. In January 2008 I was offered a permanent role as Administrator and have been with the company ever since. I took the NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration and achieved this in 2014. Within the company, I also took on the role of Support Worker and have worked with lovely people. I am now the full time Administrator for Options West Sussex and enjoy my role.
