Options Higford benefits from having a wide range of facilities on site. Activities that take place on site are part of the waking day curriculum and linked to the students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that are followed throughout the school day. Our extensive grounds and innovative facilities provide students with opportunities to safely exercise choice and control. We offer an exceptional range of activities and amenities designed to promote the development of life skills and apply learning across different situations.

These include:

  • A state-of-the-art sensory hub – a whole building which is filled with different sensory rooms in which students can explore new sensory experiences. The sensory hub has a:
    – water play room
    – wellbeing room
    – sensory room
    – sauna
    – soft play room
  • A fully-equipped sports hall and games pitch for PE and sporting activities
  • A multimedia studio designed to stimulate the visual, audio and tactile sense
  • A student bistro/café
  • Music rooms to help students to express and develop musical talent
  • Specialist subject facilities including horticulture and IT
  • A fully-stocked library
  • Specialist equipment and interactive learning environments
  • Outdoor adventure facilities including a sunken trampoline where students can engage in physical activity
  • Regular day trips and outings to develop skills including managing emotions, working with others and decision making
