Lauren Wright- Regional Director and Chair
Lauren Wright has worked in an SEMH setting for the whole of her professional career, experiencing the school environment in a variety of roles ranging from volunteer learning support assistant, class teacher, Head of English, SENCo , Deputy Head Teacher , Head of School, Headteacher and most recently, as Regional Director of Education for a portfolio of schools within the Outcomes First Group. During her time with the group, Lauren has supported and driven outstanding outcomes across a range of schools and has shared her skills in promoting excellence both ‘on the shop floor’ through experience gained in teaching and leadership roles and as a director with the drive and passion to support and motivate leadership teams. With an English degree background, a National SENCo Award and an MA in Education, Lauren has a special interest in literacy across schools as a key component to drive success and positive outcomes for the young people in our care.
Lauren has shown drive and commitment in supporting schools towards excellence and understands the pressure of balancing inspection expectations alongside ensuring that our schools function as happy, positive environments for both our young people and staff. As a headteacher, Lauren demonstrated the ability to turn around a poorly performing school in a short time; employing new staff to work alongside existing staff to support the subsequent increase in referrals under her leadership, whilst working to prepare the school for imminent external inspection and implementing new systems and procedures to redefine the school’s reputation. In supporting headteachers and their teams in her capacity as Regional Director, Lauren strives to provide direction and challenge to ensure that school performance is optimised whilst maintaining a stable and positive staff team.
Mark Williams- Head of Service
Mark commenced his role as Head of Service of Kinsale in July 2013. Prior to arriving at Options, Mark had managed and operated Children’s Homes and Schools in the independent sector at a senior level for ten years. Mark started working in children’s social care after having led a successful 20 year career in the police service. He has a wide range of experience and skills in managing care and education services for looked after children with complex needs. Since starting at Kinsale, Mark has been instrumental in the continued development of the school and care provision the service offers young people.
Liz Roberts – Independent Governor
Liz taught children and young people with special needs in a range of settings for almost forty years before retiring from the Headship at Ysgol Kinsale in 2017. Still passionate about teaching and learning, she is on the governing body of a nearby special school and is Independent Chair of the scrutiny board here at Kinsale. She comes into school frequently to meet pupils and staff and to work closely with the Head and the leadership team to help support continued high levels of achievement. When not in school, Liz enjoys spending time with her family and friends and working in her local church where she co-runs a Toddler group and has recently set up a weekly activity evening for adults with LD.
Melanie Callaghan-Lewis – Peer Governor / Head Teacher at Options Trent Acres
Melanie Callaghan-Lewis joined the Company 16 months ago as Head Teacher for Trent Acres School. Melanie has over 16 years’ experience working in the education sector, across a variety of settings including independent special schools for young people experiencing social, emotional and mental health difficulties as well as young people with complex needs, ASD and Asperger’s Syndrome, further education colleges working with ESOL students and overseeing the education provision in a custodial setting for young males. Melanie is also an experienced School Improvement Partner having had national responsibility for a number of schools for young people for whom mainstream education was not an option. She continues to develop her skills and knowledge/qualifications and thoroughly enjoys her role working with young people to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Freya Spicer-White – Clinical Lead
Freya joined the Clinical Team in January 2020. Freya obtained her BSc Psychology from the University of Manchester in 2004 and then achieved 5 years of practical experience in community and residential mental health services. She completed her Clinical Psychology Doctorate in 2012 from Bangor University, with her final year specialising in autism assessment and intervention. Upon qualifying Freya worked within the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board for 8 years, in various posts including Principal Clinical Psychologist for the North Wales Integrated Autism Service and Clinical Lead for the East Neurodevelopmental Team.
Freya has a professional and personal interest in Neurodiversity and has spoken at the Welsh Government Neurodevelopmental National steering group, 1000 Lives Improvement Public Health Wales Neurodevelopmental Conference and National Autism Conference- Promoting Autistic Wellbeing.
Becky Farmer- Registered Manager at Options Kinsale
Becky has worked at Options Kinsale for nine years; she has held the post of Registered Manager for 15 months and leads the Autism Practice within the service. Becky holds qualifications in Early Childhood Studies, NVQ 3 Health and Social Care, Speech and Language Therapy and Becky is currently undertaking a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.
Mel Ramm- Clerk
Mel joined Options in 2007 during the development stages of Options Kinsale and has been influential in the development of the service. She has over 25 years’ experience within the Administration/Training and Business Management sectors. Mel holds qualifications in ILM Management Level 5 and the CIPD Certificate in Human Resource Practice Level 3.
