Options Autism flies the flag for autism during Autism Awareness Week, 1-7 April 2019

Options Autism is proud to be supporting The National Autistic Society (NAS) Autism Awareness Week on 1st – 7th April, with a programme of exciting fundraising activities planned across its North Lincolnshire residential homes in Roxby, Wressle, Dragonby and Barton-upon-Humber. The people it supports and members of staff will be helping to raise awareness and funds for autism – a condition that affects an estimated 700,000 people in the UK – as well as celebrating 18 years of supporting adults with autism.

Flying the flag for autism during Autism Awareness Week, staff have organised fundraising activities based on the acronym ‘FUNTIME’ – ‘Freshly Baked’ bun and cake decorating; ‘U can Dance’ fitness afternoon; ‘Normanby Hall Country Park’ scavenger hunt; ‘Tree top aerial adventure’ at Pink Pig Farm; ‘Inflatables’ evening bounce and supper; ‘Marathon Swim’ at local leisure centres and ‘Enchanted spring prom’ a barbeque tea and disco party to celebrate Options Autism Roxby’s 18th Birthday. At this final event, there will be the chance to see a fascinating display of photos showing the development of the Options Autism North services through the years.

All funds raised will go towards local causes who specifically help those with autism and their families, including the National Autistic Society (NAS) and The Inclusive Club, who run events, activities and parties for those affected by autism.

Anita Keech, House Manager at Options Roxby House, commented, “We are proud to be supporting Autism Awareness Week and it’s the perfect time to celebrate our 18th Birthday. Our residential homes and outreach services have developed extensively over the years but our goal remains the same: to empower individuals to achieve their potential and lead fulfilling lives. We use a person-centred approach at all times, treating staff and the people we support as individuals and valuing all their abilities and differences. This is what Autism Awareness Week is all about.”

Anyone who wishes to donate can do so by calling 01724 733777.
