Dance team from Hillingdon Manor School are featured on the BBC for their dancing success

Autism with Attitude dance group from Hillingdon Manor School have been featured on the BBC as they qualify for the United Dance Organisations (UDO) World Street Dance Championships in Glasgow and prepare to be the first special needs dance group to participate in the United Dance Organisations European Championships in Germany.

Shown in the BBC footage practising their routines and training for the competitions, the group are proud to be acting as role models, encouraging and inspiring others to follow in their footsteps. Each and every single member of the group are demonstrating to all people with autism that you can succeed but this comes with hard work, enthusiasm and dedication.

Hillingdon Manor School based in London, is run by Options Autism and is part of Outcomes First Group and is an independent specialist school for children on the autism spectrum between three and a half and nineteen years of age.

Josh from Autism with Attitude commented: “We’re making history and its fantastic! We all use this to inspire other people with autism and special needs. We want to show them we and they can do things, you can still achieve.”

Dance teacher Jonathan Baron said: “It is a dream come true for me. As a dancer myself I’ve obviously done competitions but it’s quite emotional taking a group of young people with autism into this arena. We keep setting them fresh challenges and now they are taking the mainstream world by storm. This is just huge; they are making history, acting as envoys for all those with special needs around the country.”
