News & Events New Podcast Episode: Understanding Autism in Girls
When it comes to autism, girls are too often left out of the picture.
Autism is still widely misunderstood, and even more so when it comes to how it presents in girls. While many are diagnosed in early childhood, girls are frequently missed – only receiving a diagnosis much later in life, if at all. Why? Because the signs of autism in girls often don’t fit the traditional stereotypes based on how it presents in boys.
In our latest Autism Unpacked episode, “Understanding Autism in Girls,” we’re joined by two leading voices in the field: Professor Francesca Happé and Dr Freya Spicer-White. Together, they unpack why girls are so often overlooked, the challenges of getting a diagnosis, and what parents, educators, and professionals can do to better support autistic girls.
This is a must-listen for parents, carers, educators, and anyone looking to better understand the lived experiences of autistic girls.
The episode drops Monday 5th May.
