Options Autism Expands to County Durham with Two New Schools

Options Autism is proud to announce the opening of two brand-new specialist autism schools in County Durham this September 2025—Trimdon Hill School and Strawberry Lane School. These schools will provide high-quality, tailored education for autistic children and young people, helping them thrive in a structured and nurturing environment.

Expanding Support to the North East

For the first time, Options Autism is bringing its expertise and specialist support to the North East. We are thrilled to be expanding into this region and offering local families access to specialist autism-specific schools, ensuring children and young people receive the right support close to home.

Our schools will serve families across County Durham, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Sunderland, Redcar, and surrounding areas, helping children and young people with autism spectrum conditions (ASC) reach their full potential in a setting designed just for them.

Tailored Education for Every Stage

🏫 Trimdon Hill School (Ages 4-11) – A specialist primary school supporting autistic children in developing academic, social, and life skills through a personalised approach.

🎓 Strawberry Lane School (Ages 11-19) – A dedicated secondary school that prepares autistic young people for independent futures with a structured and supportive learning environment.

Meet the Head of Strawberry Lane School

Adam Price, Headteacher of Strawberry Lane School, brings over 15 years of experience in autism education and leadership.

“Our mission is to provide an outstanding education tailored to the unique needs of our pupils. We create a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment where every young person feels valued and ready to succeed.” – Adam Price
